another day, another hit

Yep that's right. I was walking out of the Wilson Hall Parking lot and some girl hit my car. She told me she was trying to find a pen when she backed into my car. The guy with her told her to run away, but she was staying and so I really don't know if I'll call the insurance company on her and have it taken care of.

Sigma Theta Epsilon ended their rush week events tonight and I think we had a very good night. We have about 6-8 pledges and it's going to be an awesome semester.

Mafia Wars!

If you haven't already started, do it now. Mafia Wars is the newest craze on Facebook that has millions of people addicted. The point of the game is to build your Mafia Family by recruiting your friends. After you have a strong Mafia Family you proceed in attacking, robbing, and various other mafia-based things in order to become the best. Mafia Wars by Zanga is the best out there and it certainly worth the time and effort.

When I log onto Facebook, Mafia Wars is the first and usually the only thing I pull up nowadays. If you are tired of the new Facebook layout or can't find anything productive to do on Facebook. Add Mafia Wars and start playing! Join my Mafia.

New Template & URL?

I've added a new template to the site because I didn't like the old one. Not really sure about it though. It's definitely out there. What do you think? Do you like it? I've also considered purchasing www.richardblake.org as a URL for the blog. It's for my blog and mainly so I will be able to add random things up on the server. It's late, I could be really sleep deprived and have horrible taste. Haha! Feedback wanted!

You meet interesting people in college...

The lectureship series was a success! We didn't have as many student participants as we had hoped, but the connections made were outstanding. Jessy Tolkan is an amazing speaker and I saw on her twitter that she was named 45th in Rolling Stones top 100 People that are Changing America. That's crazy awesome! I had the pleasure of meeting Larry Adair who was the Speaker of the House in Oklahoma for 22 years. You never know who you'll meet while in college and connections you make.

I was writing in a blog by Andy Revkin a couple weeks ago for my Environmental Problems class. My comment was not only selected as an Editors Choice, but he mentioned me by name in his next blog. Today at the Lectureship series a representative from the Sierra Club made a comment about it. I thought it was weird that others had actually read it. EDIT: It was a blog in the New York Times.

In April when the University's Campus Environment and Sustainability committee makes its proposal to the Presidential Cabinet, I hope that NSU will be able to become more eco-friendly. Overall the day was good!

Stuff

A lot has happened in the past 2 months. New York was amazing. You can see pictures on my facebook. The best time was probably letting loose, going to the clubs and just have a fun time in Downtime New York at all sorts of hours in the night. I don't think I got back to the hotel before 5am most nights.

Lots of stress, several deadlines, it must be school. I took the LSAT this past Saturday at Tulsa Community College and I will know what I made March 2nd. I'm calling it Doomsday. Good or bad, I hope more good. I am applying for a summer program called Trials, it seems interesting. It will allow me to study at Harvard for a few weeks. 19 hours is not recommended and I know why, yet I torture myself. I'm hoping after my Physical Science class ends I will have more time.

Sigma Theta Epsilon has been different. We've been pretty active, 3 new pledegs, Brent, Andrew, and Ben, Welcome GUYS! Our president, Matt Dempsey, stepped down later this week which puts me the acting President. It's fun, but I'd rather have Matt back in the fraternity. We have a lot of new and exciting things to do this year. Conclave in April, our end of the year banquet in May, Formal in April too. I hope this semester goes well! I can't wait to move in with Will over the Summer!

Blah! Christmas is coming closer, meaning New York is closer. I'm really excited. Christmas this year is coming by without a lot of excitement. I don't know why the Christmas jitters aren't attacking me, probably because I'm secretly super stressed that I haven't been studying for the LSAT like I had originally planned.

My lips are on fire for some reason.

Tonight I went to a Christmas Party with Molly Moore's Family(Her Mom's side) in Tulsa and it was a blast, her family is crazy and fun to be around, I feel like I am apart of the family already. Nothing really interesting has happened. Tomorrow I am going to Shawnee with Molly, that should be fun, then Toys R' Us.

I never update this thing. I really would like to though. The semester is coming to a close and everyone is excited to get on Winter Vacation and have some time off from school. As for me, I am going to New York in 17 days and I couldn't be more excited. I think I will bring my laptop to New York so I can blog about my experiences everyday. I really don't have much to say. I take the LSAT in less then 2 months, so i'm kinda freaked out. Who knows what will happen!

A Few Updates

Another year of school has started. I've thought several times about quitting my job, I just don't care to work any longer even though I would have nothing to do. I've been thinking about going to law school since switching my major to International Business. It'll be exciting and I could do so much. Law School will be tough, but its very interesting subject. I want to stay in Oklahoma while attending so I would probably end up going to Oklahoma University Law School.

Sigma Theta Epsilon was put on probation this year because we only have six members and we needed eight to be an active chapter. We have seven pledges though, so our semester next year will be rockin'. I'm pumped. My little is Javier Santos. His heart is decked out for Christ and its awesome to see someone coming to college and be on fire for Christ. SYATP is tomorrow. The verse for this year is “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening!” 1 Samuel 3:9b

The few websites i've been working on in my spare time are still going strong, www.stebz.org and www.nsubcm.com. I'm estatic that I finally finished most of STE's website. I really don't have much interesting things to say so this blog is always private. Maybe I'll share it one day if my life gets interesting.

Graduation

I went to bed last night about 5:30 am watching the ending of Season 6, which was probably one of the best endings I have seen thus far. I woke up a short 2 1/2 hours later to my dad's alarm going off and me wanting to kick it. My sister is graduating from College today with a Bachelors of something, I know its a Public Relations degree. It gets me to thinking that everyone's life in my family is rapidly changing and its getting to a point where I know that in the next 5 years so much could be different, I could be married, that would be awesome. More later..

School's End.

People talk all the time about how they can't wait for school to be over, but when school is finally drawing to a close and people realize that their friends won't be coming back, their lives are changing, they are graduating, getting married, it puts things into prospective. People don't want to leave, the majority, I would guess want to stay in college forever.

Most of my friends might not be returning next year and it makes me sad. For the past two years of my life I have invested my life into these guys and most of them will be doing their own things next year. I'm happy for them, but it'll be way different.

.....I feel the urge that I want to get married. I watched a scene from the Notebook last night so I am guessing that is why I feel I want to get married. It's a weird thought, but I think I would be happy if I did. Either that or my ex-girlfriend, that I might still love, got engaged awhile back. I hate confusing feelings!

23.5 cents and hour

I just got down with probably the stupidest/funniest/happiest poker game in my life. It started around 4am when I entered a few tournaments just to get the feel of the cash tournaments and I ended up staying and waiting for a 6am tournament with Cameron. We played and played, after 2 hours was said an done, Cameron had been eliminated (205th) and I finished in 149th place so I qualified for the $1.47 cash prize. After entering the tournament for a dollar. It was great. I still haven't gone to bed and I won't because I have class in 2 1/2 hours. Just an update!

Website Progress

I am finally getting closer on my website. I did a lot of the animated images. I will be glad when this is all done and over because then I will work on sites that I actually enjoy working on and I don't have to do all these weird requirements that I will never use in real life. I hate RSS Feeds, will never use them, Frames and Tables are outdated, let's just use all CSS. It's just frustrating when I really don't care about it, although I'm liking the scheme of things, its becoming grand! I only have 47 more points to go and then I will have a 100% woot! I might just quit at a C or a B, that wouldn't bother me. LOL! I can memorize things pretty well for the final, and finish off with a B or C, at the least.

Life as of today....

A few major updates. I didn't win treasurer, I lost by a vote of 283 to 315 or something close to that. Life is still grand though because I have a lot going for me next year. Senate chairmen positions are open and I almost missed the deadline. I am thinking of applying for the Local Relations Committee Chairmen or the Secretary of Campus Affairs, both sound really interesting. My trip to St. Louis was quite extraordinary. Sometimes I think that Sigma Theta Epsilon will cease to exist, but at the same time I'd really be sad about it. I've made great friends through it that I hope will last a lifetime. I will be the VP/Secretary next year in attempts to help get rid of the administrative tasks so we can focus on God and Service. It's going to be a great year. NSU Recycle will hopefully get off the ground with ease and that will be a huge undertaking. I hope I get some good leaders to start off so I don't have to do all the work.

A lot of people just look at 2 Chronicles 7:14 without looking at 15 and 16. The reason why these two touched base is because if we do what is said in 14 in turn 15 and 16 will come alive. It's a great scripture to refocus on and it tells us what exactly we need to be doing in order to receive the blessings and help that we need. The God I serve is a just God. We have 4 things to do, it is a lot of work, but the outcome is well worth it.

a new vision...

I decided to start a new blog, because the old one was an old email address and just didn't fit me anymore. Same theme, same idea, but new vision. I want to use this blog not only to reflect things that are happening in my life, but when I study scripture, I want to place it here, where in years past I will be able to remember it.

Weeks at a time I let life take me by its grasp and I do nothing but things that I like to do and things I want to do. this blog is basically to keep me accountable in doing daily quiet times, praying daily, and just living my life like my Christ. To start it off, yesterday I read Psalm 51. It was quite an amazing chapter, I felt as if the prayer being read was my prayer and I was singing it from the rooftops. That prayer speaks to me in in many volumes.

1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.

4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you are proved right when you speak
and justified when you judge.

5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts [a] ;
you teach [b] me wisdom in the inmost place.

7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
